I’ve made the decision to start migrating off of Substack. I want to adjust the way I do things and Substack just doesn’t give me the ability to customize enough.
And I can’t change my publication URL again without breaking old links, and I don’t want to do that either.
So, instead, I set up a Ghost site and will be publishing there. I’ll still post a little bit from this newsletter for each of the next few weeks so people who want to move over to that list can.
My first essay over there:
The site is still using the default color scheme and everything, so will be evolving a bit over the coming weeks, but I’m going to be focusing more on deeper writing, especially as I get into the Foster cohort.
The program doesn’t officially start for a couple of weeks, but they offer Co-writing Circles that you can sign up for. I joined my first one last week, and it was wild how much I was able to write. We started with a guided meditation, then wrote for an hour, and at the end, came back and shared some of our writing.
In that hour, I just started writing and pretty much didn’t stop. Over 5 pages written, with none of it feeling difficult. The essay I linked above was pulled out of those pages.
I’m almost positive this will turn into a book at some point. I’ve got a pretty good outline that seems to be a good way to break it down. Now I’m just going to start writing essays that can fit into that approximate outline.
Although perhaps I should keep this newsletter around, or a similar one to share a link to the essay and a bit of the other miscellaneous thoughts/things I’ve created/interesting stuff I’ve watched/listened to/read.
Let me know what you think!
Organic, Free-range Ideas
Really enjoyed this conversation with Jesse Itzler. I’d heard his name but didn’t really know anything about him.
And here’s a great essay from Jay Clouse: Association, the Secret to Organic Growth.
The concept of association makes a lot of sense to me. It’s an idea that people can associate a lot of things into. In a world where we are consuming all sorts of information from all sorts of sources, so we need something to latch on to.
It’s similar to the idea of category creation that I mentioned in a previous newsletter.
You have to put your ideas in a new category the same way you should put your products in a new category.
Idea Factory Outputs
Part of the Idea Supply Chain media empire is going to be a new podcast. I’ve been playing with idea and decided to reach out to one of my favorite podcasters to see if he’d be interested in being a guest, and he agreed! So now I’ve got to pull the rest of it together, but I’m excited.
In this video, I talked a little bit about taking this approach instead of setting everything up first.
And here’s a recap of the user interview I had with the first user of My AI Cofounder:
See you next week!
