Alix is officially live.
Who’s Alix? Alix is a fictional AI I created a backstory for a couple of months ago and tweeted from her perspective for about a month without tying that account to me at all. Mostly, I was curious about how much traction a new account could get if it didn’t engage with anyone and just told a story.
I came up with a backstory, outlined a month of tweets, with each week being a bit like an episode in a TV season.
The Twitter account went nowhere, but it was a fun little experiment.
And then I got Build In Public Coach live over the weekend, but I realized something: I needed it to have more personality. I also got tired of calling it Build In Public Coach…
So I thought it would be great if I just hired Alix away from her existing job.
From a technical standpoint, here's how I approached it:
I’ve got an agent that has a few tools that get information about the user based on previous answers, provide some advice/answers based on the user’s input, etc. Then I have another prompt that applies the personality layer. At first, the personality was played a little thick…
But it’s something I’m working on adjusting.
Over time, I’d like to expand this out so that others can create chatbots based on their own personality/coaching style. For now though, I want to prove out the concept, so I’ll see how many users I can find for this!
That’s the focus for this week: I want at least 10 users. I’ve gotten 2 so far, so off to a decent start.
Content Corner
I’ve got a couple of podcasts to recommend to you this week.
Up first, it’s the Build In Public Podcast with KP. Specifically, his episode with a fintech VC. I thought it was a great episode and covered a lot of really interesting topics, especially around being immigrant founders. Gave me a lot to think about.
And speaking of building in public and KP, he asked a question on Twitter that I responded to. And then he highlighted my response, which was pretty cool!
Next up, Danny Miranda has a really good chat with Jack Butcher. I thought they covered some really fascinating topics.
Finally, I did my YouTube recap thread if you are interested. Big focus on Building In Public last week:
Feel free to click through and check those videos out. (Also, I’m always on the lookout for topics, so if you’ve got something you want me to talk about, let me know!)
Oh, I also wasn’t thrilled with someone’s representation of building in public. I don’t normally approach things this directly, but I needed to say something.
Until next week!
